Technically it doesn't count as a transformation, I guess:
* Someone makes an artificial body for you to use (alien technology from Iroshar - they do stuff like that all the time)
* You go into a stasis chamber so that your brain can wirelessly control the new body - it makes you feel like you're in that other body and not your own
* It's also implanted with an AI (to handle basic neurological functions) that's trained based on your own thoughts and decisions while you're engaged with it
* If the AI loses its connection to your real body for a second or two, it will extrapolate based on your behavior (so if you're walking somewhere, you don't fall over or anything) - upon reconnection, its sensory memory + consciousness is merged back into your own
* If it loses connection for more than a couple seconds, it realizes it's just the AI, which usually manifests as anxiety, and a desire to go back into stasis until your real self is found
* The artificial body usually stays in the stasis chamber when not in use, because otherwise it would need food and stuff
It's mostly used by TF fans, and by people who check physical spaces for accessibility by various species.
