Sharon M'Sam was a Caitian Starfleet science officer in the late 24th century. In 2397, M'Sam became the chief science officer and executive officer of the USS Paramaribo.
M'Sam had a warm personality, and loved all kinds of art and nature. He gained a reputation for being incredibly loyal to his crew.
The Paramaribo was a departure from M'Sam's previous postings: with a crew of just 30, the only other science officers on board were the medical staff. M'Sam was second-in-command, and the ship's chief medical officer reported to him.
M'Sam studied the careers of former science officers who became respected command officers, such as Spock and Saru. He never pursued his own command, although both Sheleth and former science officer Kathryn Janeway thought that he would be well suited to one.
In the region of Cait that M'Sam was from, the last name was used in both formal and informal situations; the first name was never used on its own. M'Sam also preferred that people address him this way to avoid confusion, because Sharon was a common name for Human females.
