To elaborate: If you’re reading mastodon, there’s a high chance you don’t watch the 24-hour news cycle. Which is good. Neither do I. (I read Reuters mainly.)

But that doesn’t make social media a better source. We all collectively have become the news. We do all the reporting and copious amounts of op-ed, all for free.

There are laws to hold the press accountable for bad reporting, but not us. However much bias and selective reporting the networks do, we do ten times as much.
